Toyota Prius Lineup Named 2012 Best Green Car to Buy
Want to know what the best green car out there is? That's actually a trick question because according to GreenCarReports, the answer isn't merely one vehicle... Rather it's the entire Toyota Prius family of cars.
Toyota Sunnyvale was pleased and impressed to see that the Prius was able to defy the title of the "Best Green Car to Buy" awards by making the judges choose a total of four models, rather than simply sticking to one. More specifically, the third-generation Toyota Prius, Toyota Prius v, Toyota Prius Plug-In, and Toyota Prius C took home the top honors. And, what makes this feat even more impressive is the fact that those last two models aren't even set to be released until the spring of next year!
Of course it wasn't just because of the Prius family's expansion that they took home the prestigious title of "Best Green Car to Buy;" it was also because of the incredible fuel economy that each model carries. For example, the original Toyota Prius boasts an exceptional 50 mpg combined (51 city/48 highway), while the all new Prius v, which offers more cargo space than 80 percent of small SUVs, manages to pack an impressive 44 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. Meanwhile, the Prius C brings more than 50 mpg city to the table, which is higher than any other non-plug-in model, and the Prius Plug-In Hybrid is set to offer 87 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) combined when in electric mode and 49 mpg when in hybrid mode.
This latest accolade for the Prius only proves that Toyota is truly the hybrid king. Of course, if you require first-hand proof of this notion, you could always arrange a test drive at 898 W. El Camino Real in Sunnyvale, CA 94087 to see for yourself.
